Siberian State Medical University concluded a memorandum of cooperation with AstraZeneca Russia

On February 8, 2016 (the official Day of Russian Science) SSMU and the international biopharmaceutical company AstraZeneca concluded a memorandum of cooperation. The parties now intend to develop scientific, academic, and cultural partnership in order to enhance the efficiency of the public health service.One of the key areas of this cooperation is developing strategies for early detection and innovative treatment of type 2 diabetes.

“Our university is accreditedto conduct clinical research (phases I-IV) and clinical trials of Russian medical devices. We are honored to have established cooperation with leading Russian and foreign pharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations. For many years,SSMU scientists have been conducting scientific research to develop new methods of diagnostics and treatment of type 2 diabetes. I am certain that the collaborative work with AstraZenecawill promote the integration ofadvanced approaches to treatment. It will also integrate Russian investigations into the world’s medical science”, said Olga S. Kobyakova, Rector of SSMU.

In the framework of this cooperation, SSMU and AstraZeneca aim to exchange scientific information, conduct collaborative research, and undertake training and upgrading activities for doctors.
